Can you take civil action agains the police for false imprisonment, for breach of liberity in the UK?

Can holding a group of protestors in an area or blocking thier exist amounts to civil action by way of false imprisonment in the UK?Can you take civil action agains the police for false imprisonment, for breach of liberity in the UK?
Even in my wayward youth if a copper told me to shut up and go away I did so. The trouble with society these days is that people think nobody can tell them what to do. Well, the police can and they can make you do it. Why put yourself in a situation where you will end up in a confrontation? Most people wouldn't do this with strangers so why think it is OK to shout and scream in a coppers face? Is he the face of the government? Go scream at your local MP instead, he doesn't have a shield or baton. Better still send letters and e-mails, the pen is mightier than the sword. It's easy for the ';middle classes'; to sit in their lovely homes losing respect for the police as they do battle with groups of discontented, non contributing crusties trashing banks in the capital. Who are you to withdraw consent?

To answer the question though, don't be ridiculous. Can you take civil action agains the police for false imprisonment, for breach of liberity in the UK?
The issue of 'kettling' as it is called, when the police hold a large group of protesters in a closed off area, is being debated inside and outside parliament. It's a hot issue and I can already see the outcome. It's going to cost the Metropolitan Police hundreds of thousands of pounds in compensation. Especially the killing of the newspaper stand guy - they are not going to just get away with it. There are also lots of office workers etc who were 'caged' illegally by the now hated Met-Fuzz.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said the Met were doing a great job at City Hall - he got heckled. I think he should be shoved out of office for supporting what we all know is gang warfare by the police here in London.

I've never been on a demo nor have any plans to do so. But this was a peaceful demo turned sour by the actions of the police. The Met-Fuzz had signalled in advance their intent to make this a brutal event. One notorious police criminal even said in an e-mail that he wanted to attack certain kinds of people.

All this has caused the Met-Fuzz the loss of respect and support of the middle class Londoners. I Iive in a prosperous middle class part of London and none of us now support the Met-Fuzz - they have shown themselves to be a bunch of racist criminals and worse.

Sort this mess out before the people do.

Here in UK we have policing by concent - the people no longer give their concent. We the people are the 'masters', we pay for this and we do not like what is being done with our money.
You cant take any action against the police it is a complete waste of tax payers money (jean charles de menezes etc for example) The UK is a Nazi/Communist country where you will do as your told and be spied on at every opportunity. Sadly there is no such thing as freedom anymore.
The Police seem to be able to do what they like. They use the Public Order Act to cover a multitude of sins so I doubt if you would be able to sue them.
i doubt this would work on a public highway where the police are 'supposed' to be keeping order. they would say they were doing it for the greater good %26amp; they would win....trust me!
Not if it's for public safety and crowd control measures, they have those rights.
